DOA

Fake n' Bake

At the launch of her new swimwear line for Next, Geri Halliwell showed up looking like a shiny orange.

Girl needs to step away from the tanning booth.  Clearly, she needs an intervention.

She has so much potential but she needs a stylist who doesn't hate her.

But what a Bod, huh?!

It's actually a good thing she's not singing anymore.  We really couldn't live through another 'It's Raining Men'.  Ouch!

A Retailer's Worst Nightmare: The Fail

It happens quite often in luxury retail; the gorgeous but 'out-of-reach for many' handbag quickly becomes a tacky piece of crapola that store's like Neiman Marcus can't even give away.

Mini Sequined Petale Tote, Valentino

However, in this case, 'giving away' is not a term Neiman's is familiar with.
Even though it's now 33% off the retail price (seriously? this bag should be at least 50% off at this point), it's still $1,507.00
Not only that, this Valentino rose thing has been copied and re-copied for the last two years now.  It's just very tired.

And here's how this bag is described:
Radiant sequins amplify the signature Petale tote—now in a smaller, go-anywhere size.

So, this is the 'smaller, go-anywhere size'?  Holy shit!  Makes you wonder what the price of the 'larger, go some places size' is.

Retail Fail.

Life-size Barbie's, Courtesy of The Incredible Bra Launch @ Victoria's Secret

Imagine waking up one morning, only to find one of these outfit's waiting for you to slip into?

Models (from left to right) Erin Heatherton, Chanel Iman & Candice Swanepoel at VS's "The Incredible Bra" Launch yesterday.

"Check out these assets"

"Ha, Ha!  I never have to buy lingerie again.  Don't hate!"

"What am I supposed to do with this thing?"

I wonder if Supermodels get tired of this kind of cheesiness?
I know I do.

St. John Dumps Angie

Apparently, Angelina Jolie 'overshadowed' the St. John brand.
Uh, really?  It took the brand three years to figure this out.

Here's a statement from the CEO:
"[Jolie] overshadowed the brand," said chief executive officer Glenn McMahon. "We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.
"We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John," McMahon added. "We have evolved."
"We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette," he added.

Now, they're on to redheads as Angie has been replaced with someone who happens to be married to some Rock Star (shocking!  A model is married to a Rock Star?!?!?)  Whatever.
Like many luxury brands, St. John is trying to stay relevant.  Fashion Retail ain't easy, kids!

Well, we can still enjoy Angie's gorgeousness--thanks to the wonders of the internet!
Below are some of her best St. John pimping...I mean, ad campaigns:

She looks a bit stunned here but the look is very Eva Peron

Perhaps she's writing her 'to do' list.   Don't we all look like this when we're writing our grocery list?

'How does this thing work?'

'I'm mysterious and irresistable. And the lips are real, thank you very much.'

'Man, I'm fucking hot!'

'I think I'll wear these gloves to bed tonite.  Meow!'

'Even dogs want to do me.'

'This isn't champagne in my glass, is it?  I'm breastfeeding the Mongolian triplets I just adopted, you morons!!'

Gee, I wonder whatever made them think she was overshadowing the brand.

Christmas Windows...From Around The World

Let's start in New York because The Big Apple always keeps that bar held very high when it comes to window displays.

Bergdorf Goodman (these windows are my favourites--so lavish and dreamy)

Macy's

Paris, France

Galleries Layfayette

London, England

Wherever you spend your holiday, be safe, eat lot's of goodies and be nice because Santa sees everything.   He won't put those pretty, shiny Louboutins under your tree if you're naughty!

Merry Christmas!
